Northland Childcare Centre Inc. has two beautiful facilities in the City of Winkler, MB. Both programs are offered at independent facilities, attached to GVSD schools. Our spaces are leased to us by the GVSD, but the programs are run by an independent Board of Directors for community families.
Parents at both sites may use the parking loops in front of the entrances for drop off and pick up of children.
Northland Childcare Centre
Our facility at Northland Parkway Collegiate opened in October of 2013, offers 4 classrooms and a kitchen where snacks are prepared. Large windows let in lots of natural light, and equipment and furnishings are still like new. We are licensed for 74 children. Our classrooms include:
1 Infant Room (16 children)
1 Toddler Room (18 children)
2 Preschool Rooms (40 children total)
Our classrooms are usually filled at a 100% capacity and vacant spaces are often filled by existing children who ‘age up’ into older classrooms. Therefore wait lists for NCC can be long so we recommend placing children on our online registry as early as possible.
We have two playgrounds, one for our younger children and one for the older children. We spent several years developing these outdoor spaces. First with basic landscaping and natural play features (completed in 2018) and then adding commercial playground equipment. We will continue to develop and improve the landscaping and play features as ongoing fundraising projects.
Pine Ridge Child Care Centre
Our new facilities at the Pine Ridge Elementary School opened in October of 2019. We are licensed for 114 children and have 7 classrooms designed to accommodate infants, preschoolers and school aged children.
2 Infant Rooms (8 children each)
1 Infant/Toddler Room ( 10 children)
3 Preschool Rooms (16 children each)
1 Double Kinder/School age Room (40 children)
We have a playground shared by the infant and preschool children. The PR Elementary school generously shares their playground with our school age children when it is not being used for recess.
Because this site is so new, we are opening classrooms on a staggered basis. This is dependant on both staff availability and community need. Already, we have seen that the Pine Ridge Child Care Centre has made a huge impact on our wait list.
We are grateful for the opportunity to operate our second program and look forward to continuing to serve the childcare needs in our community at both of our facilities.
